Traffic Accidents

1. In the event of a (serious)traffic accident
   

   First dial 110.

   • If you cannot find a telephone, ask a passerby to contact the police.
   • If you can find a telephone and each the police, say "Jiko desu" or "Ihad a traffice accident" and report where the accident happend. if you are unfamiliar eith the site, ask a passerby. If anone is seriously injured, call an ambulance by dialing 119.

2. If it is an minor accident, do the followin, first number and his driver's licence number. Check the photograph to confirm that it is the correct person. Take the other driver's address, name, age,telephon number, the name of his insurance company and the type of insurance carried. If you require an eyewithness's testimony, you should also note that person's address, name and telehpon number. Confirm the facts of the accident with the other driver. If anybody is injured, even slightly, that person must go to a hospital for a check-up.
