1. Municipal Museum

   Open : 9:00 - 17:00
   Closed : Mondays
   • Documents on the local history of Wakayama City are exhibited. Movies are shown once a month(on Saturday), and audio-visual education of the local history is given.
2. Wakayama Prefectural Museum

   Closed : Mondays
   • Works of fine ares, historical documents,Buddhist image, Buddhist painting, ceramic ware are exhibited here.
3. Municipal Invention & Innovation Center

   To get there : 5 minutes walk from Nankai-Wakayama-shi-eki Station
   • History of invention,inventions of the citizens, introduction of high-tecnology are exhibited. Also, invention, creation and persaonal computer classes are taught.
4. Municipal Children's Science Museum
   Address : 19 Yoriai-machi

   To get there : 5 minutes walk from Nankai-Wakayama-shi-eki Station
   • Planetarium, "science by seeing", "science by trying" and others are exhibited.
5. Prefectual Museum of Natural History
   Address : 370-1 Funao, Kainan City

   Open : 9:30 - 17:00
   Closed : Mondays
   To get there : Get off the bus at Kotonoura. (The museum is located right after passing Kemi Tunnel.)
   • There are 57 aquarius where "the ocean of kuroshio Current(Japan Current)" can be seen.

2.Art museums

1. The Museum of Modern art, Wakayama

   • Modern woodblock prints of Japan and works of odern art are exhibited. The Biennial Exhibition of Wakayama is held here

3.Libraries

1. Civic Library

   Closed : Fridays Free of charge
   To get there : 5 minuts walk from Nankai-Wakayama-shi-eki Station
   • General books and records are lent. Traveling libraries are provided. Also, record concerts, 8mm films and "Kamishibai"(telling stories illustrated with picture cards) are shown.

4.Parks

1. Frest Park

   • Hiking couse of 7.1km, trails, observatory plaze and children's playground are available.
2. Wakayama Castel Park

   To get there : Get off the bus at Koen-mae. There is a zoo and a Japanese gargen where you can enjoy a tea ceremony.
