1. New phone installation
   Apply at the nearest NTT office with an foreigner registration card or Japanese driver's license and sign a contract. Then set installation date and tell them your address.
   When you move, notify NTT in advance.
2. How to make a phone call from a public hpone

   Lift the receiver. Insert \100 or \10 coins or a telehpone card. Aftter hearing the dial tome(a hum), dial the number.

   • When you call to Osaka from Wakayama,dial 06-2083-7413.

     06 : area cord
     208 : city/suburb prefix
     7413 : house number

   • In the city
     dial 32-0001 continously

     32 : city/suburb prefix
     0001 : house number

3. Public telephone
   You can see different color public telephones at almost every corner of the city or in front of stores. There are yellow, blue, red, pink,green amd grai ones. Telephone cards are available for green and grai public trlrphones.
   Trlrphones card can obtained at stores where public telephones are installed.
4. International tekephone
   • Calling the KDD operator
     Dial 0051 and give the person's name and telephone number. You can choose 3 types of calling
     1. person to person
     2. number to number
     3. collect call
   • International Direct Dial
     This is a direct dialing system for international call. It is cheaper than operator-assisted call above.
     (In some area, you will have to register at KDD)
   • You can choose Nihon Kokusai Tushin(ITJ) and Kokusai Degitalu Tushin(IDC) other than KDD.

   • Others
     Some card-type, green public telephones can be used forinternational call as well as communication with operator is available by telehopne card or coins.
